Manchester United player rating gallery: Five players scored 8/10 while two won 9/10 in the 2-0 win over Tottenham

Fred and Bruno Fernandes scored for Manchester United in the 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United produced their best performance yet in the Eric ten Hag era on Wednesday when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Premier League.

The atmosphere was fraught with danger at Old Trafford as the Red Devils dominated every aspect of the game, firing 28 shots and forcing Spurs to make frequent mistakes with uncontrollable pressure. It was Fred and Bruno Fernandes who scored in the second half, pushing United by one point into the top four.

United dominated the first half with Anthony close in on a long-range shot from Hugo Lloris, while the winger slashed the post with an arc shot in the 10th minute. The Spurs goalkeeper was suspended in the opening exchanges as he denied a unique slip attempt, Marcus Rashford's close-range shot, Fernandes's free-kick shot, and Luke Shaw's powerful shot - United's choice of 19 shots in the first half.

For the visitors, Rodrigo Bentancur had an early shot, while Harry Kane saved captain David de Gea in the closing minutes of the first 45 minutes.

But within the opening two minutes of the second half, United scored the well-deserved opening goal. It was Fred who finished off the Red Devils' counterattack, although his shot from the edge of the penalty area hit Pierre-Emile Hogberg and did not give Lloris a chance for Spurs.

The Frenchman was on hand moments later to block a fierce shot from Rashford with United staying in control. But it took until the 69th minute for the Red Devils to double their lead. It was Fernandez who scored Lloris' goal after the ball hit Eric Dier inside the penalty area, and the Portuguese international scored his second goal this season.

Then Lloris kept Fernandes and Rashford away with an excellent save, while the first goal was canceled for offside after Lloris dribbled and put it in the net. It proved to be a quiet finish as United sealed the points, especially after a slew of substitutions. Here's how we rate the players.

1. David de Gea- 7

He didn't have much to deal with, but the goalkeeper managed to keep Kane off on a few occasions and Rashford played across the goal in one stage thanks to a superb long pass.

2. Diogo Dalot - 7

He played well both defensively and offensively. Ivan Perisic didn't have much fun facing the young full-back, while regularly making his way to the right flank.

3. Raphael Varane - 8

He seemed consistent with the ball and was a physically strong full-back for the Red Devils. The central defender made some important defensive heads inside the penalty area.

4. Lisandro Martinez - 8

She handled Kane brilliantly and even managed to win some headers against the England captain. He helped lead United's high-energy approach.

5. Lock width - 8

Possibly his best performance of the season as the left-back moved down the line and paired well with Jadon Sancho. Shaw came close with a superb shot midway through the first half.

6. Casemiro - 8 (out of 87)

He defended the four defenders and continually recovered the ball in the middle of the field. This was the kind of performance United fans expected when Casemiro joined in the summer.

7. Unique- 9

Outstanding from the midfielder, who produced one of his best performances ever in a United shirt. He scored the opening goal and played again, and his innovative rounds created space for others. Fred was also brilliant outside of possession and got the ball back over and over throughout the match.

8. Anthony - 8 (out of 76)

He did a good job scoring a unique goal and showed some excellent dribbling and dribbling. He still needs to work on his weak foot, but Anthony has once again shown his ability to shake off the benches.

9. Bruno Fernandez - 9

The latter probably put in his best showing of the season so far. Fernandes moved the ball quickly, advanced in possession, and helped put pressure on United. His shirt number 18 scored a wonderful goal in the second half.

10. Jadon Sancho - 7 (out of 87)

Much improved after the last performances. The winger looked more confident and I enjoyed running in Matt Doherty.

11. Marcus Rashford - 7

He delivered some timely kicks behind the Spur's defense, but the finishing touches weren't accurate when

12- Scott McTominay - 6 (76).

The match was over by the time it came and the Scotland international didn't have much chance of getting the ball.

13- Christian Eriksen (87)

14- Anthony Ilanga (87).
