My First Time Publishing a Kindle eBook on Amazon and How You Can Do the Same

Kindle eBook on Amazon

  • As a young man in my high school years, I discovered that I was pretty good when it came to creative writing. Then I used to excel in English structures either in an English test or exam.
  • I can easily come up with a fairy tale and do it so well that you'll think it really happened. If you are asked to recall an interesting experience on the last of my long vacation; I know you just made my day. I will write and write as if my life depended on it. It came naturally to me and I loved it. I found it very easy to do.
  • I used to think I'd be a writer/author when I grew up. But along the line, I lost interest in writing and found myself in the accounting profession. But writing still came easy to me.

I lost interest and did not practice writing, especially after reading the rejection stories of aspiring writers who were rejected by every publishing house they sent to their books of 200 to 300 pages. All of them had nothing for their efforts but a rejection letter. I wasn't ready for that. Imagine you spent years writing what you thought was a masterpiece, only for your dream to turn into a nightmare. I wanted to save myself from this torment. This is why I lost interest in pursuing my dream of writing.

Then came Amazon and Kindle books. Amazon created the Kindle Reader and they needed unlimited content that people could read on their e-reader. They had to encourage people to write and upload all kinds of content on their platform. This is how Kindle Direct Publishing came to be.

Many aspiring writers saw this opportunity and took advantage of it. Soon there were many stories of people being killed by this. There is even an unknown writer by the name of Amanda Hawking who has made more than 1 million US dollars from the platform.

I saw every day that my dream of becoming a writer via Kindle and Amazon could come alive again. Then I decided to give it a try. I had to publish my first e-book on the Kindle platform.

In this article, I will write down my experience

I remember it like yesterday I wrote a story about a girl who had a vision of Jesus Christ. Suppose she met Jesus Christ, who led her on a tour of heaven and hell.

I think I read the story many years ago when I was a kid, but it stuck with me when I was a young Christian. My grandfather was a pastor and founder of the church.

It took me a day to prepare the e-book and another day to edit. And I was ready with my first e-book for Kindle.

From the start, I found the Kindle platform very intuitive and easy to use. I was surprised and relieved. Uploading my first e-book was easy because the Kindle platform automatically converts your document file (in my case, a Word document) to the Kindle format. You do not have to make any conversion yourself. Just upload the Word document and you are good to go.

It's also easy to upload the cover page for your eBook. But let me admit here that cover almost pushed me off the podium. let me explain; I had no technical knowledge of graphic design. I thought it was hard and I just couldn't do it. How wrong I was.

When I was pulling off the guts and decided to do it, I found that Amazon had its own cover creator that anyone could use to do a simple but still beautiful cover process. This was what I used and it was a breeze too.

Once I uploaded my Word document manuscript and cover, my eBook was approved and live on Amazon Marketplace within hours. I still remember the feeling. You are now an author. My childhood dream and vision have come true.

While uploading my e-book, I found that anything I wasn't sure about was pretty much covered on Amazon. If there is anything you don't understand and you want an answer from someone, you can email support and get a response soon.

There were several thousand titles in each category on the Kindle platform and you needed to put your ebook in the appropriate category if you wanted to have a good chance of people discovering and buying your ebook.

You should add keywords to help people search and find your eBook. If people can't find or see your eBook, the chances of you making any sale are virtually non-existent. This is the case as the place is quite big with many e-books.

After publishing my e-book, I was checking every day to see if I had made any sales. Soon I started seeing sales pouring in. It wasn't much but every day I found myself making a sale was a very beautiful moment for me.

Let me tell you that after that (when I published my first e-book), the platform was not as advanced as it is now. Finding my sales has never been the same. The results were specific to different Amazon marketplaces. There are markets for the US, Canada, India, UK, Denmark, Germany, etc.

I was just checking US market sales. I thought the results I got in the US market were all I had. You can imagine my surprise when I found out at the time of my first royalty payment that I made over $100 in my first month on the UK market. Ha-ha-ha-ha, I'm still laughing at it even now as I write this article.

I've been writing and publishing Kindle e-books on and off ever since. I have been doing this along with many other things online like blogging and affiliate marketing. I wish I had focused on the Kindle because I realized this was a good source of income for me.

Even the first e-book is still earning today and has done so over and over again every month for several years now. Sometimes I imagine what would have happened if I focused on publishing a Kindle and now have like 100 e-books on my Amazon bookshelf.

Maybe I could retire now. I'm just kidding. I will not retire online. It's like a hobby for me. Every day I love logging in online and browsing a little bit and will continue to do so as long as I can. For me, it is just like reading.

Now back to my purpose of writing this article. I want to show you that you can do that. Anyone can write and make money online using the Kindle platform. You just have to have a little knowledge, skill, and desire to do it. Then get an e-book that teaches you how to do it.

There are many e-books on how to join Kindle and earn money from it. A lot has been written about this, including my humble self because we want to help those who want to work and make money online.

In this period of COVID-19 and lockdown where many people are out of work, imagine how it would feel to continue earning passive income from Kindle eBooks.

As a Kindle publisher, you are your own boss and can work full-time or part-time from home. No need to travel daily. For my eBook on How to Easily Join Anyone and Earn from Kindle, see my signature at the end of this article. Make sure to check it out.

I encourage everyone to come onto the Kindle platform. There is an e-book for everyone. You have an experience that could benefit someone somewhere in one corner of the world. It could be how you lost your job and how you survived to get another job. It could be about how you live after a bitter divorce. You have a story that could benefit someone somewhere. Please write and share your knowledge with the world.

Get your Kindle today. you never can tell; Maybe you'll be one of the Amanda Hockings. Yes, there are many more Amanda Hawkings on the platform today - people who have made over a million dollars from Kindle publishing alone.

Go for it. you can do that!
